With a new single coming soon, Adam Lambert wants to make sure his fans are excited about the release. To this end, he has announced a video contest where people can perform the song themselves, showing their own interpretation of the track.
How does the contest work? Immediately after announcing that the new single will be his title track Trespassing, Adam tweeted , "A contest for all you fans! Send me videos of u performing 'Trespassing'. Lip-synch, sing, dance and dress up! Prizes to be announced." Adam has a lot of creative fans and he sparked their interest immediately, prompting many people to reply and ask for more details. He has since shared more information, tweeting, "Regarding this little contest: I will ask you to tweet me links to your videos and pictures next Friday. :) until then, get creative!" Some fans seemed to think that the videos would be used for the official music video for the single. But Adam clarified on Twitter that they are not and said that, "they're for FUN. ...for anyone who wants to express themselves through song!"
There is no doubt that Adam has creative fans, which can be seen at his concerts. Already he sings to crowds dressed in yellow and black "Trespassing" colors, and there tends to be is a lot of caution tape floating around. In Japan, some people even thought to use black tape to stripe bananas in the Trespassing theme.
As of now, there is no further information about the contest on Adam's official website . One has to wonder if Adam realizes the huge number of tweets he receives, even when he is not actively tweeting. This could make it difficult for him to sift through contest entries if they are to be made only through Twitter. Perhaps he will think to add some sort of hash tag, such as #Tresspassingcontest. Also, some fans may want to enter that are not using Twitter, so possibly other entry methods will be made available next week.
The deadline for the contest is next Friday, September 14. Will you be submitting a video entry to Adam?
