Lambert proud of new album - Toronto Sun
Former American Idol runner up Adam Lambert couldn't be happier than his sophomore disc, the funk-and-dance influenced Trespassing, debuted at No. 1 in Canada and the U.S. last week. "I think it was a real accomplishment that the album was able to chart that high without a big single," said a smiling Lambert, 30, in a Toronto hotel room this week, glammed up in black and white tie-dyed, torn pants and lots of silver jewelry with his jet black hair possessing a skunk-like blond streak on top. "So it's kind of a grassroots, kind of fan movement. (I was) very surprised. I mean, I knew that the fans were going to want a copy but I didn't know what numbers we were dealing with." Trespassing, whose second single, Never Close Our Eyes is just out now, dropped to No. 7 in Canada and No. 11 in the U.S. this week and Lambert says he probably won't tour until 2013. But he also made history as the first openly gay singer to have an album debut at No. 1. "It feels really great," said Lambert, who's also written a quiet, intimate and melancholy song, Outlaws Of Love, about LGBT discrimination on Trespassing. But, at some point, Lambert wants his sexuality to no longer be a part of the story. "It's an interesting journey being identified as 'the openly gay pop guy' because I feel like it's a privilege to be an example of somebody that's not making any apologies for it and to try and give young people the feeling of pride and the idea that they can reach their dreams if they want them," he said. "But the flipside to it is that it does get a bit objectified, mainly by the media. I think this milestone of reaching No. 1 and being the first hopefully it makes the statement: That it really doesn't matter. That we just need to move on." In fact, Lambert moves on to London next week to begin two-week rehearsals with Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor for six European dates together in July. Lambert first performed We Are The Champions with Queen in 2009 on the eighth season of American Idol's finale on which he was the runnerup and then that tune and two more songs on the 2011 MTV European Music Awards. "They're really, really cool guys, total class acts," he said. Lambert said he's not nervous at the prospect of touring with Queen for the first time but admits "there's going to be some work involved." "But I'm looking forward to it. I think I've worked so hard and been so focused on my project it'll be nice to step into somebody else's world for a minute again. It'll be a creative sidestep and it's a nice sweet, short, little commitment."

Adam Lambert to be Honored at Musique Plus - AdamLambertFansClub
When Adam appears as a guest on Musique Plus on Wednesday, May 30, he will be there to promote his newly released video for his latest single "Never Close Our Eyes." Musique Plus (MP) has been very supportive of Adam as an artist. They are also very supportive and appreciative of Adam’s fans and their support of the show. While he is there, he will be presented with a special plaque, on behalf of his fans from the MP voting groups at AdamOfficial.com and AdamLambertFans.com, to commemorate his being the 1st artist inducted into the Pantheon. Four members representing those groups will be in the MP audience.
Adam’s fans wanted to recognize and honor Adam being the 1st Pantheon artist – they logged hours and hours of votes for Adam and his videos, and are so very proud of how well Adam’s videos have done on the MP Top 5 Countdown. The plaque is in memory of “MamaH” – the leader and OP of the Musique Plus voting thread on AdamOfficial.com. MamaH passed away from a sudden illness in February 2012. MamaH was a beloved member of AdamOfficial.com and AdamLambertFans.com and was a very dedicated Adam Lambert fan and supporter. On February 22, 2012, at the request of fans, Musique Plus inducted Adam's video for BTIKM into the "Pantheon Hall of Fame" in memory and honor of MamaH.

Adam Lambert's new video for "Never Close Our Eyes" is one part futuristic sci-fi movie and one part rave, with "1984"-inspired cameras, pale, robotic people, and blue billowing clouds of smoke emanating from Lambert's hands. Watch below as the "American Idol" runner-up frees his fellow citizens from their mindless state, then fights the police and has a colorful, choreographed celebration.

It all starts in a small, dark room -- similar to the one Lambert found himself locked in for his "Better Than I Know Myself" video -- as a computer switches the pop star's status from "Sleeping" to "Awake." Cameras are always watching and armed soldiers are everywhere as Lambert and his fellow black-eyed robots move from place to place, popping pills like candy and being scanned by futuristic machines. Chatting with Billboard.com earlier this month, Lambert talked about the new video, but he stayed pretty mum on the details. "There's a little sci-fi energy to it. It's very cinematic. It was inspired by a couple different films," he said in the Live Q&A. "It was a fun shoot. We did it in one day and it was great. The director is Dori Oskowitz and he's awesome."
