People: "I wanna slay it tonight in TOKYO!" the American Idol alum Adam Lambert Tweeted before rocking out with bassist Tommy Joe Ratliff (right) Wednesday at JCB Hall by barb4Adam
On the other side of the world for performance duties, Adam Lambert took the stage for a concert in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday night (October 6).
The "For Your Entertainment" entertainer was poised for a great show, as he enthusiastically tweeted prior to gig, "I wanna slay it tonight in TOKYO!" Not letting his fans down, the 28-year-old ran through all of his hits while at one point getting a bit frisky with bandmate Tommy Joe Ratliff at the JCB Hall venue.
Set to visit Australia after finishing up in Asia, Lambert spoke with Aussie press about overcoming the backlash following his guy-on-guy kiss at the 2009 American Music Awards.
Adam dished, “I definitely didn’t see the backlash coming as it did. I learned from it, and I’m really proud that I managed to get through it without apologizing at any stage, because I don’t think I did anything wrong."
As for his plans to visit the Land Down Under, Lambert said, “The culture [in Australia] seems very open, every liberal, very peaceful and positive. As far as people enjoying the music, there’s probably not as much fear of homosexuality down there, so people can just enjoy the music a little easier."
Official numbers released by festival organizers of the St. Jean, Quebec Hot Air Balloon Festival released this week show a boost in attendance due to a concert performed by Adam Lambert in August. Original attendance numbers placed 40-50,000 people for the concert, but the numbers released in a press release from the organization, has now said that 70-75,000 people watched the glamtastic singer take to the stage, setting a new record for attendance.
The 75,000 boost propelled the balloon festival to whopping attendance numbers of more than 400,000, “crushing to pieces” concert records set in 2009 for a concert by Canadian pop-punk rockers Simple Plan. The nine day festival featured balloons, concerts and family events. It is considered one of the most important hot air balloon festivals in the world and one of the largest events of its kind in Canada.
For yet another week, the result is the same for Adam Lambert on the "American Idol" airplay chart. In the newest numbers posted by USA Today, "If I Had You" remains the most-played song by any former artist from the show. Its grand total this week? 8,049.
When breaking this number down, the majority of these spins (close to 5,000) are coming from Top 40 radio stations alone. Then, you have an additional 1,833 spins coming off of the Hot AC chart. What about the remaining 1,200 or so spins? They are coming from what is largely a combination of spins off of adult contemporary and dance-oriented stations.
